Recently, the company OpenAI launched the chatbot ChatGPT - which is a so-called Large Language Model (LLM) based on the artificial intelligence platform GPT-3. Due to ChatGPT's amazing conversational abilities it has attracted massive attention and people are already using it in very creative ways.
To begin with I used it to translate Greek and Latin - which it is very, very good at. It doesn't just translate very well but you can have a conversation with it about possible translations of a passage of text.
Soon, I began to wonder whether it would be possible to use it as a serious tool for personal growth. So I asked it to write a blog post about a quote from the Roman poet, Publilius Syrus. This is what followed:
In my opinion, this is a brilliant interpretation of the quote from Publilius. Since several of the preserved quotes from Publilius are about shame I decided to carry on the conversation about this topic with ChatGPT:
This is also a very good answer to my request - but since I was still puzzled by this quote, I made ChatGPT dive deeper into the quote:
In my opinion, it is very obvious that using ChatGPT to discuss ancient ethics is a great way to use it for personal growth.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
Another quote from Publilius about shame:
"Our most poignant reflections arise from shame for past acts."
- Publilius Syrus, Sayings, 556
Oh my gosh! I've been using chatGPT primarily for programming but this is a totally different level! 😱 I feel redundant now!
